Understanding the Domain
In the case of domains such as RDBMS and Web Development:
- Domain and technology are created simultaneously and evolved in tandem
- Controlled from end to end
- What to input and how to input
- What to output and how to output like that everything is controlled
- There are regulators like W3C for web development
In case of the education domain:
- It has been evolving for centuries
- No one can control it
- Creativity and innovation are the key driving forces
- Mostly diverse and complex
Key takeaways:
- Education domain is unique
- Unlike other domains, education domain lacks a single defining technology due to its complexity, diversity, and emphasis on creativity.
- The choice of technologies depends on specific educational goals, learner needs and available resources
The 5 Elements of the Domain
A researcher creates the concept.
An author projects the concept in different ways.
A publisher distributes these projections.
A teacher demonstrates the distributions.
A student consumes the demonstrations.
These are the 5 key players in the sector
An EdTech should understand their roles and requirements. KSource understands very well.
The first four elements serve the fifth element (student). Of the four elements, author and teacher are the most influencers of the activities of an Edtech.
Researcher is an innovator, whose activities(innovations) are great in significance. In terms of the amount of influence and frequency of influence, an Edtech can manage with him. Researcher is not a trouble maker for an Edtech, as his innovations are rare and time taking. In the long run, every thing can be settled.
Publisher is a facilitator. He doesn’t create any thing new. He is not a direct and major influencer. In fact, he can be bypassed. His strength lies in networking with authors. A right technology may reduce publisher’s role and his influence. Our innovative and completely Rule Based AI product, kBooks, is one of such powerful technology. If an Edtech directly connects to authors, there are other
The remaining three elements: Author, Teacher and Student are the key elements.
1. Author and Teacher fall on input side, while Student falls on the other side (output side).
2. Thus, author and teacher are the two eyes for an Edtech.
Author
Author is the primary source of content.
He plays with:
1. Logic
2. Language
3. Numbers and Parameters
4. Order/sequence of the content components
5. Other things like: main question and sub-sequent & follow-up questions.
KSource provides logic to the authors and thus helps them to experiment with logic, numbers and others.
Teacher is the primary source of learning.
Author also explains the content, but it is completely static in nature. That is why a teacher is essential to bring life to the concepts. Thus, a teacher is dynamic, interactive and engaging.
Teaching is an art
- A Teacher:
Teaching is about timing
- A Teacher:
- maintains timing of all these things, which is of great importance
KSource does all these things in the way exactly a teacher does in the class room Teacher-Styled content delivery is our Unique Strength.
Students differ in their:
- Understanding
▪ One-time learners
▪ Repeated learners - Pace of learning
▪ Slow learners
▪ Fast learners - Quest for learning
▪ Limited to curriculum
▪ Open for learning beyond curriculum
- KSource serves all kinds of students at much affordable pricing.
3. The success of an Edtech depends on:
how an Edtech is coordinating with an author and how an Edtech is helping a teacher
in his day-to-day academic activities, to serve the final consumer (student) the best.
This is our understanding of the domain and its key players. With this understanding, we identified the core activities of an Edtech.
The Core activities of an EdTech
1. Content Creation
2. Content Delivery
3. Content Evaluation
While there are other supporting activities, these core activities form a fundamental loop that drives learning and teaching.
KSource foundational perspective
1. Content creation is scientific
2. Content delivery is an art
3. Content evaluation is technical
Teaching is more of art, as teacher is meant for content delivery and author is meant for content creation.
We also acknowledge the overlap and complexity inherent in both the professions.
KSource Enhanced Perspective
KSource creates a combined and holistic environment that integrates both scientific and artistic elements in our platform.
KSource Approach to Mathematics
Dealing with a mathematical problem involves 3 steps:
- Understanding the context
▪ Identifying the subject, chapter, model, topic, etc, is done here
- Parsing the data
▪ Understanding what is given and what is asked.
▪ Pulling the data - Solving the problem
▪ Step by step solution is done here
The first two stages are of intelligence based,
while the third stage is of completely rule based.
Nothing is as transparent as it looks. Even a rule-based system needs some amount intelligence for rule selection.
Thus, the process of solving a mathematical problem involves a dynamic interplay between Rule-Based AI and Context-Based AI.
This is the fundamental belief behind the emergence of KSource Technologies Pvt Ltd.
Building a hybrid system of AI for dealing effectively STEM subject learning and teaching.
Making Rules, Breaking Contexts
We have a clear and well-defined approach of serving:

Balancing Precision and Personalisation
The hybrid AI Approach in STEM Education
AI = Rule Based AI + Context Based AI
Education sector, particularly stem subjects always demand accuracy, consistency and thus reliability (ACR). For decades, computers are well known for speed, accuracy and consistency. With the technological advancements and massive amounts of data, age old mathematical and logical algorithms are getting matured day by day. Now people are trying to add intelligence component, which is due for decades, at the cost of ACR to bring personalisation, flexibility and thus convenience (PFC).
No minor deviation is tolerated for a curriculum driven learning, so rule-based AI is suitable. A non-curriculum driven or a personalised learning employs context-based AI at the cost of ACR.
The goal is to bring personalisation and convenience without compromising on ACR, which is vital for curriculum learning. Neither RBS nor CBS alone is sufficient in the present scenario of competitive world. It is the hybrid system (RBS + CBS) that serves the purpose.
AI with Logic
Learning is driven by curriculum and/or is driven by personalisation. Curriculum driven learning is 100% ACR, though rigid and lacks experimentation. Non-curriculum driven learning is flexible and convenience at the cost of ACR.
Rule and Pattern are means to one another, and not the ends.
- What was once considered as an intelligent task, afterwards became a rule with the developments in science & technology
- A rule ends the pattern, whereas a long-lasting pattern becomes a rule and thus a new rule emerges from a pattern over a period of time.
- So, it is not a choice of one over the other. It is need of the hour that matters, while keeping an eye on the fact that one complements the other
Evolving Rule-Based AI into Context-Aware Intelligence
Making rules, Breaking contexts:
To enhance our robust rule-based AI system to accommodate context-aware rules, we are:
- Identifying relevant contextual triggers,
- Updating rules to include context-specific conditions, and
- Implementing a dynamic decision-making process that adapts to changing contexts.
Thus, we aim to create a more intelligent and responsive system for our EdTech platform.
